Freshman Recruiting Roundup Tre had nice offers from South Florida and UCF, but decided to leave the sunshine state and head to Illinois. Tre is another depth filler in the class at LB. He brings great energy and tackling ability. He too has potential to become a player on this defense. Just like Henry McGrew, though, expect to see him on special teams during his early Illinois days.

Josh Brent Sentenced to 180 Days in Prison, 10 Years Probation


Josh Brent has been sentenced to 180 days in jail after being found guilty of intoxication manslaughter, stemming from a Dec. 2012 car crash that killed teammate Jerry Brown. He faced a possible 20-year sentence. Report via Chicago Tribune

Yup, this is weird. Turns out, according to Tom Dienhart of BTN, Rayvonte Rice and Mikel LeShoure are cousins. Both were stand-out high school players at Centennial High School in Champaign.

Illini recruit Aaron Jordan is at the State Farm Center this afternoon to watch Illinois take on Penn State. Per reports, he is making his college decision "soon." Jordan, a 4-star shooting guard from Plainfield, is 6-foot-4, 175 lbs.
