Safe to say it’s been a tumultuous offseason for the Fighting Illini. But Brad Underwood and Co. got a big, happy wake-up call Saturday morning with the commitment of four-star 2022 guard Sencire Harris.

Harris, a 6-foot-3, 170-pound combo guard from St. Vincent-St. Mary HS in Akron, Ohio (some guy named LeBron went there, too), was on campus for an unofficial visit in mid-June. He’s listed as the 15th-best shooting guard and 109th-ranked player nationally by 247Sports’ composite rankings. This is a major recruiting win for Illinois and new assistant coach Chester Frazier, who has wasted little time pursuing the top talent in the country.
Harris joins fellow guard Reggie Bass in the Illini’s 2022 class. Here’s a look at the current roster scholarship chart, accounting for Kofi Cockburn not returning to Illinois (after entering the transfer portal this week).

This is a breaking story that will be updated.
