National Signing Day was months ago, but head football coach Bret Bielema hinted that he would have some spots available for any late adds to this season’s class. Thursday saw two in-state receivers join the Illinois Fighting Illini as preferred walk-ons.
Plainfield East wideout Jordan Knowles committed during his unofficial visit to Champaign.
After an unofficial visit + individual workout, and a great conversation with Coach @BretBielema, I am very excited to announce I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of Illinois! #ILL #Illini #famILLy @BengalFB @EDGYTIM @DeepDishFB pic.twitter.com/3DtHLM8h6m

The 6-foot, 180-pound Knowles put up huge numbers for the Bengals during a five-game spring season, tallying 760 yards on 28 catches and 12 TDs. He ran back 15 kickoffs for 238 yards, an average of 15.9 yards per return. Knowles is an unranked prospect whose only other offer was from FCS Bucknell.
Miles Scott, a Dolton native, spent his post-grad season playing at St. Thomas More School in Connecticut.
