After seeing six players depart the program earlier this week, Bret Bielema and the Illinois Fighting Illini were finally treated to some good news on the recruiting trail.
2022 wide receiver Ashton Hollins verbally committed to Illinois on Wednesday afternoon.

Hollins, a 6-foot-4, 170-pound converted quarterback from George County High School in Lucedale, Miss., pledged to the Illini after an official visit to Champaign this weekend. Receivers coach George McDonald caught wind of Hollins at a camp this month and quickly swooped in to bring Hollins to campus.
Check out some highlights below:
Hollins is currently unranked by 247Sports, but has a good frame, length, athleticism, and projectability. He’s unlikely to see the field early on with the likes of Donny Navarro, Brian Hightower, Marquez Beason, Isaiah Williams & Carlos Sandy ahead of him.
Hollins is Bielema’s 11th commitment of the 2022 class, and the third receiver prospect joining three-star recruits Hank Beatty & Eian Pugh.
