Bret Bielema wrapped up the spring signing day on Wednesday, and is now moving on to 2022.
Illinois picked up a commitment from Bieleman’s old stomping grounds Friday with Hartland (Wisc.) Arrowhead offensive lineman Joey Okla announcing his intentions to play for the Illini, according to his Twitter.
Committed! Huge thanks to my Family, friends, and coaches for making me the man I am today. Also, a big thanks to @BretBielema @Coach_BMiller and the rest of the Illinois staff for believing in me! #Illini #famILLy22 pic.twitter.com/WBU5EGgpNP

Okla is the first prospect to commit to Illinois in the class of 2022.
A 6-foot-3, 285-pound lineman, 247 reports Illinois offered a scholarship Okla last week.
According to 247’s recruiting page, Okla also had an offer from Eastern Illinois.
In his press conference Wednesday, Bielema said he left a few roster spots open for the class of 2021 just in case any late commits/signees come aboard.
