In-state power forward, Morez Johnson, committed to the Illini on Friday morning. The 6-foot-8, 205-pound Chicago St. Rita product held offers from Florida, Iowa, Ohio State, Texas and Providence among others.

Johnson doesn’t appear on the ESPN top-25 or Rivals’ top-40. 247Sports has yet to release its rankings for the class of 2024, but this is a great pick up going solely off Johnson’s other offers.
His high school teammate, James Brown, is considered a top-20 prospect nationally by both ESPN and Rivals and will be another name for Illini fans to watch out for in the coming months.
