High school football in Illinois won’t be played in 2020.
Instead, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the IHSA announced Wednesday afternoon it is moving the fall season to the spring, as well as moving around a ton of other sports.
Football is slated to start Feb. 15 and run through early May.

Boys and girls basketball is still scheduled to be played this winter.
Memorial Stadium was not planned to be host to the IHSA State Playoffs in 2020, but State Farm Center will be the home to the Boys State Tournament in March, assuming the season goes as planned.
Of note, this could make recruiting challenging, especially for the Illini staff looking to gain some in-staters. We’ll have to see what kind of effect it has not having games, especially as the Illinois staff looks toward 2022.
