It was obviously to be expected, but now it’s official.
The Big Ten Conference announced Monday morning that it extended the suspension of all organized team activities through June 1, and will reevaluate the situation again at that time.
In March, the conference announced a moratorium on all on- and off-campus recruiting for the foreseeable future. That’s not stopping the Illini staff from Zooming the recruits and getting a bunch in the past two weeks.
“The main priority of the Big Ten Conference is to ensure the health, safety and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty, fans and media as we continue to monitor all developing and relevant information on the COVID-19 virus,” the conference said in a statement.
Still no idea what the fall is going to look like.
