Interior defensive line help is on its way. The Illini landed University of Cal-Berkeley graduate transfer Chinedu Udeogu on Saturday evening.

The Inverness, Ill., native appeared in two games last season before suffering a lower body injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the year.
Udeogu appeared in all 12 games as a freshman and all 13 as a sophomore, notching a career-high three tackles in a contest against Arizona. The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder practiced at tight end this spring before practice was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic so he’ll likely give Lovie Smith some versatility to work with.
