Illinois added its third commit in a week Monday with JUCO safety Solomon Buchanan.
The 6-foot-1, 200 pound safety played at Garden City Community College, the same school that Del’Shawn Phillips came to Champaign from a few years back.
A native of Mesa, Arizona, Buchanan announced his decision on Twitter.

According to Buchanan’s tweet and 247, Miles Smith led the recruiting effort for Buchanan, who will play at Garden City this fall before joining the Illini next spring. He will then have two years of eligibility.
Check out some of Buchanan’s highlights from his freshman year at Garden City.
This article from December 2018 claimed Buchanan could have ended up at Arizona State — which didn’t happen — but also notes a near-death experience to becoming a college football prospect. Good stuff, welcome to the Illini.
