The cancelations keep on rolling in.
The NCAA announced Thursday that there will be no more spring sport competitions this season, due to fears of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Earlier Thursday, the Big Ten, as well as many others, canceled its conference tournament. The NCAA also canceled all spring championships.
On Wednesday, the Big Ten announced limited attendance at the Big Ten Tournament and spring sporting events.
Illinois Baseball was slated to play at Southern Illinois on Friday. Illinois Softball, who is scheduled to host this year’s Big Ten Tournament for the first time, was supposed to play Green Bay at Eichelberger Field on Saturday.
This also affects sports like men’s and women’s tennis; women’s swimming and diving; men’s and women’s track and field; men’s and women’s golf; likely spring football practice; and likely wrestling at the NCAA Championships.
