Redshirt-freshman QB Isaiah Williams has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Williams ran for a program-record for a QB 192 yards in the Illini’s 23-20 win over Rutgers on Saturday. He also threw for 104 yards in his first-career start.
The St. Louis native is the Illini’s first Freshman of the Week since Patrick Nelson in October 2016.
Kicker James McCourt was also named the conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week after kicking a game-winning field goal after missing two earlier in the fourth quarter.
