Illinois defensive lineman Oluwole Betiku Jr. announced via Twitter on Saturday that he is forgoing his senior season of eligibility and declaring for the NFL Draft.

Betiku spent one season in Champaign after transferring from USC, recruited by now-former defensive line coach Austin Clark.

His Illini career got off to a roaring start with a career-high 3.5 sacks against UConn in Week 2 — the fifth-most sacks in a single game in Illinois history. He finished All-Big Ten Third Team, as voted by the media, and finished with nine sacks.

Betiku missed four games with injury this year.
