Illinois on the board for the first time in 2019 courtesy of Reggie Corbin’s three-yard run in the first quarter.

Corbin is in his senior season with Illinois and is on track to be a major difference-maker all season long.

The running back rushed for 1,085 yards a season ago and ran for nine touchdowns. He has his first of 2019 on a drive in which he compiled 35 yards.

The Illini defeated the Akron Zips 42-3, powered by a strong running attack that was started off by Reggie Corbin.

After Corbin’s first drive touchdown, he only tallied one additional carry and remained on the sideline the entire second half, presumably to prevent any injuries to the Illini’s best player. But it was revealed by head coach Lovie Smith that Corbin “got nicked up” around his hip, and gave no further update on his status for next week.

Corbin’s hot start was enough to push the Illini to a lead, and they did not look back.
