Illinois has gained a commitment from 2019 in-state center Jermaine Hamlin, according to Prep Hoops’ Scott Burgess.

Hamlin previously played at Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Illinois, and planned to play this season at Link Year Prep in Branson, Missouri (according to Derek Piper), but instead will join the Illini for the upcoming year.
The 6-foot-9, 240-pound center doesn’t have much information about him online. Back in February, at one point during his senior season, he was averaging 13.4. points and 6.3 rebounds for the No. 6 team in the state.
With still such a young front court, it doesn’t hurt to add depth behind Kofi Cockburn, Giorgi Bezhanishvili, Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk and (maybe) Bernard Kouma.
