Report: Former Illinois pitcher Tanner Roark traded to Oakland A’s

Roark is on the move again.

MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates at Cincinnati Reds David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

Tanner Roark is joining his third team in less than 12 months.

The only former Illini currently in the MLB was traded from the Cincinnati Reds to the Oakland A’s, per a report Wednesday afternoon.

Wednesday afternoon is the MLB Trade Deadline.

Roark has always been a pretty solid pitcher, but he’s 6-7 this year with a 4.24 ERA in 21 games started. In his career, he’s 70-61 with a 3.66 ERA over seven years with the Reds and Washington Nationals.

The Reds acquired Roark for Tanner Rainey in a straight-up Tanner for Tanner trade last offseason.
