Illinois senior halfback Reggie Corbin was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List on Monday.
According to a press release, it is the first-career watch list honor for Corbin.
Corbin had a terrific junior campaign, making All-Big Ten Third Team and rushing for 1,085 yards and nine touchdowns. It was the 13th 1,000-yard season in Illinois history.
He’s also been one of the shining Illini off of the field, coaching a youth football league during the summer and being honored to represent Illinois at Big Ten Media Days in Chicago next week.
The Maxwell Football Club presents the Maxwell Award for the College Player of the Year. The award’s last few winners are notable names: Tua Tagovailoa, Baker Mayfield and Lamar Jackson.
