It has been a trying offseason for Illinois to get some targets on the outside.
Finally, it seems like there’s a solid option.
Richmond wide receiver announced Dejon Brissett his commitment to transfer to Illinois on Sunday night via Instagram.
“Biggest decision I’ve ever made in my life,” wrote on Instagram. “And proud to say that next year I will continue to play and study at the University of Illinois Thank you to everyone who’s been there in this process, I will always be a Spider !”
Coming off a broken ankle, Brissett is obviously a bit of a concern in terms of health, but his production early this season (16 receptions, 299 yards and a touchdown in three games) would certainly be welcome for a decimated Illinois wideout group.
Brissett spent his high school days at Lake Forest Academy in the suburbs, and is originally from Canada.
The Illini have tried to add Jeff Thomas and AD Miller from the transfer market this offseason, but both have failed. Hopefully Brissett can be that spark for Rod Smith and whoever is at QB.
