Want to feel old today?
Lovie Smith and the Illini offered a scholarship to 2020 wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad.
His dad? Yep! Mooooooooose!
Muhsin “Moose” Muhammad played for the Bears from 2005-07, which was sandwiched by years with the Carolina Panthers. Coached by Lovie, Muhammad led the Bears in receiving yards twice, hauled in 12 touchdowns, and played in the Super Bowl, catching a touchdown from Rex Grossman.
Now it’s his son’s turn to try his hand at collegiate — the elder Muhammad went to Michigan State — and professional football. The 2020 wideout is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, and is ranked with four stars, per Rivals. He is the 24th-best wideout in the nation, per the same site. And he already has offers from his dad’s alma mater, where he visited last year, as well as Indiana, among others.
He’s pretty good. Watch him, and let’s hope there’s a Moose reunion with Lovie.
