The off week just got a little bit better.
Illinois picked up a commitment from Samari Collier, a three-star quarterback out of DeSoto, Texas, who announced his decision on Twitter on Saturday afternoon.

Collier also held an offer from New Mexico State and is listed as the No. 26 dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2021 according to 247Sports. He is also the first commitment for the Illini in the class.
The Texas product took a visit to Champaign over the summer and was offered a scholarship while on his trip.
