Pulse of the Illini Nation: How many 2018 wins?

A wide majority of the writers here at the Champaign Room pegged Illini football with four wins this upcoming football season. Most of us said that the two cupcake games (Kent State and Western Illinois) would go to Lovie Smith & Co., and likely there would be one to two more wins between Minnesota, Rutgers, Purdue and Nebraska.

We got a lot of great responses here for the Pulse. It appears that quite a few of you agreed with this sentiment of three to four wins for the entirety of the season.

Now, some of you were even a bit more optimistic, saying that five or six wins were in the hats. We appreciated several people who tweeted something to the effect of “My head says 4, but my heart says 6”:

Others were just fairly confident that five or six wins was a real possibility.

At least there’s some evidence and logic going into it there. I can’t blame the optimism. Again, hats off for the excellent gif usage:

On an ending note, a surprising number of people people picked seven wins or more.

But sometimes I wish I was more like Elroy here:
