Another Illinois Baseball player has heard their name called in the 2018 MLB Draft, this one being outfielder Doran Turchin.
Turchin was selected 415th overall in the 14th round by the Baltimore Orioles.
Turchin had a solid season at the plate for the Illini, batting .272 with nine home runs, 32 RBI and a .503 slugging percentage.
The Oak Creek, Wisconsin, native showed flashes numerous times this season that he could be one of the premier Illini power hitters while also improving upon his stats this season.
While, Turchin’s batting average was lower from the .275 he batted his sophomore year (played four less games that year also), he drastically upped his RBI stats, adding 13 more RBI and increasing his slugging percentage, walk totals, all the while, lowering his strikeout rate.
Defensively, the Illinois outfielder was perfect on the season out in left field with four assists to his name as well.
Stay with the Champaign for more MLB Draft coverage on the Illini.
