We’ve reached the Elite Eight of our first annual TCR GIF Tournament, and today we decided on the lucky GIFs that will make it to the Final Four.

Beckman Listening vs. Groce Mic Fail

It’s been a rather easy path to the Elite Eight for the Beckman Listening GIF. After knocking out both his own drawing and happy clips, he finds himself up against former colleague, John Groce’s mic fail.

This one shocks me. Don’t get me wrong, Groce’s antics deserve to be here, but this GIF has knocked off some heavyweights along the way. This GIF is NOT to be taken lightly, or Beckman might just find himself watching the rest of the tourney pan out.

I mean, who can really blame Jonathon Brown? Illinois football has made us all want to knee someone in the groin before. Usually it makes us feel like we’re on the receiving end of this blow, though.

And on the complete opposite end of the spectrum, sometimes there are wholesome moments like these which makes us all appreciate donning the orange and blue. Malcolm was a class act both on and off the floor, and it pains me to this day that he never got to play in an NCAA Tournament. :(

Griffey for the Win vs. Tito’s Flag Throw

I love this GIF. Even when Indiana is atop the polls and “the best in the nation”, we get to spoil their two seconds of fame. I also hate this GIF because this is the last time Illinois basketball has done anything relevant. I’m ready to add a new recent clip to the pregame hype video.

This football team struggled from day one last year under center. Several guys got a crack at leading the Illini into battle against Big Ten foes. But who would’ve known that Tito Odenigbo would lead the Illini in completion percentage by the end of the season?

Block I vs. Corso Chooses Illinois

Illinois students have been some of the best fans in the nation for as long as I can remember. Even when the football team goes winless in conference play, Block I continues to show up. Their secret? Booze.

Lee Corso is known for putting on mascot heads of teams he favors to win early on Saturday mornings during college football season. The helmet fits, coach! Now what do we have to do to get those helmets back?!
