“It is an extreme honor to play under Coach Underwood and the rest of the Illini family in the Big 10,” Higgs wrote in the tweet.
Higgs announced that he received an offer from Illinois last Monday, and about one week later he is committed.
Higgs is a 6-foot-8 small forward from Perry Hall in Nottingham, Maryland. Originally committed to Ole Miss, he received a release from his commitment after a coaching change in March.
He is ranked at the 13th best 2018 prospect in Maryland, and the Illini can use anyone who is raw at this point — added bonus for having been committed once to a big SEC school.
Higgs is able to join the team immediately and will become the Illini’s second-tallest player, only behind Giorgi Bezhanishvili, with Samba Kane still unable to officially join the team this summer.
How about this dunk on his tape from this season?
