Forward Samba Kane Signs With Illinois

The Senegal native makes it official.

Samba Kane has signed with Illinois.

Kane originally announced his commitment to the Fighting Illini on March 9.

Originally a member of the class of 2019, Kane reclassified to 2018. Kane is listed at 7-foot.

Kane played at the Flying Star Academy in Senegal, before spending a year in Colorado, and finally ending his preparatory career in Florida.

Kane is a raw prospect, but one with high upside as a rim protector on defense, which is the biggest area of need for Illinois and Head Coach Brad Underwood. He is long and athletic, and is the type of player that could thrive with the right coaching.

According to 247sports, Kane is a three-star recruit.
