Illinois Baseball moves up to No. 22 in rankings

The Illini swept Northwestern this weekend.

Illinois Baseball continues moving up in the rankings, this time to No. 22 in Baseball America College Top 25.

The Illini also moved into the D1 Baseball Top 25, coming in at No. 25.

Illinois started its season with a difficult non-conference schedule, but played well enough to earn a 12-5 record. The Illini opened Big Ten play this past weekend in Evanston, Illinois, against Northwestern and swept the Wildcats at Miller Park.

Junior Bren Spillane had eight RBIs in a win versus Cal State Northridge last Wednesday, the second of what is now a five-game winning streak for the Illini.

Illinois (15-5, 3-0 Big Ten) travels to Peoria to play Bradley on Tuesday night before returning to Illinois Field for its first home Big Ten series versus Iowa.

Michigan is the only other 3-0 Big Ten team.
