National Signing Day 2018: Coran Taylor finally signs with Illinois

It’s been a long wait, but the Fighting Illini have another QB.

It has been a long time coming for the Peoria High School quarterback who committed to the Fighting Illini back in April of 2017.

Coran Taylor was expected to sign with the team during the December Early Signing Period but held off.

Nevertheless, the firm three-star recruit has a lot of potential. Taylor is a dual-threat quarterback who will not only add another an athletic body to the weaker Illinois QB position but offer plenty of talent in a fight for the starting role come this fall.

Illinois still currently has only one quarterback on scholarship in Cam Thomas, so adding to the position is still vitally important.

It’s safe to say the man can get it done on the ground of through that air. Taylor passed for 1,546 yards and 18 touchdowns in his senior season, tacking on 1,048 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.

Taylor will be joining incoming freshman MJ Rivers out of Texas and Matt Robinson out of California, so Lovie will have three duel-threat QB’s to evaluate very closely.
