Illinois Football announced the suspension of redshirt-freshman Lere Oladipo on Sunday night.
The press release stated Oladipo is suspended for a violation of team and DIA rules.
It was reported by Illini Inquirer and The News-Gazette earlier Sunday that Oladipo was arrested early Sunday morning for domestic battery. He was released on $1,000 bail and has an arraignment in court Monday afternoon.
“I am aware of an alleged incident involving Lere Oladipo early this morning,” Head Coach Lovie Smith said. “We will continue to follow DIA policy on reviewing and responding to such actions.”
Oladipo has played in four games this season after missing four with injury.
