Soccer (3-3 overall, 0-0 Big Ten)
The Fighting Illini soccer team took the field twice this past week and walked away with two victories on the road to improve to .500 on the season. The team’s first matchup against Evansville headed to overtime where junior Morgan Maroney’s first career goal gave the Fighting Illini a 2-1 victory. In the Fighting Illini’s second contest they took down Miami of Ohio 1-0 behind Patricia George’s goal in the 32nd minute.

Volleyball (6-0 overall, 0-0 Big Ten)
New head coach Chris Tamas has made his name known early on the Illinois campus as his volleyball team has gotten off to an impressive start. This past week the Fighting Illini competed in the Cardinal Classic in Louisville, Kentucky where they swept their competition. In each of their three games they went a perfect 9-0, shutting down Kent State, Western Kentucky and Louisville. Illinois junior Jordyn Poulter broke a school record with .652 hitting percentage against Western Kentucky, which helped propel her to being named tournament MVP. Fellow teammates Ali Bastianelli and Brandi Donnelly left Kentucky with All-Tournament honors.
