The FBI made several arrests Tuesday morning in connection with an investigation into bribery in college basketball recruiting, involving more than 10 people.
Here is a thread of tweets about how the Illini may be affected by the situation involving new Illinois basketball coach Brad Underwood and his former assistant at Oklahoma State, Lamont Evans.
As of now, all signs seem to point toward the Illini being in the clear in this situation.
100%. Missing (?) on the Evans hire sure looks like a blessing in disguise now. https://t.co/I5eL9TMs7F

It seems Evans' FBI allegations began at So. Carolina. But it *continued* through an instance on 2/3/17 while he was at OkSt with Underwood.

This specific instance was during a recruiting visit to West Virginia, and the FBI believes there was a $2,000 cash bribe involved.

The smoking gun, hopefully, will be that Evans was involved with bribery before AND after Underwood's tenure at Oklahoma State.

You can read more about how this impacts Lamont Evans from our friends at CRFF.

TL;DR - Illinois & Underwood should be OK here. We'll see. https://t.co/NMmxUNGQOh
We will update this story as we get more information.
