Illini in the NFL: G-MO’s overtime catch sets up a Packers win

Allison is the first Illini to make headlines this season

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at Green Bay Packers Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Geronimo Allison, WR Green Bay Packers

6 Rec, 122 Yds (Green Bay def. Cincinnati 27-24)

G-MO Exploded. His longest catch was for 72 yards in overtime to set up a field goal for the Packers’ win. He was also the go-to receiver for Rodgers in the fourth quarter and overtime as he was targeted throughout the game. Also, prayers for Adam “Pac-Man” Jones’ ankles during that 72-yard reception.

Corey Liuget, DL Los Angeles Chargers

3 Tkls, .5 sacks, 1 FF (Kansas City def. Los Angeles, 24-10)

Liuget was legit in the Chargers’ loss. He is defining his role for the Los Angeles defensive line and was a big impact.

Whitney Mercilius, LB Houston Texas

5 Tkls, 1 Sack, 1 FF (New England def. Houston 36-33)

Mercilius made lots of tackles against the Patriots. Unfortunately, it was in a comeback loss that the Texans needed their defense to step up more.

Dawuane Smoot, DL Jacksonville Jaguars

2 Tkls, (Jacksonville Jaguars def. Baltimore 44-7)

Smoot continues to slowly get involved in the Jaguars defense. Watch the rookie get more and more playing time as he continues to improve.

Justin Hardee, WR New Orleans Saints

1 Tkl (New Orleans def. Carolina 34-13)

Hardee has one heck of a story, from his time with the Illini to this past weekend. Well, this weekend the story continues as he gets promoted to the 53-man roster and then recorded his first tackle on special teams. Hopefully, we will see more out of him.
