Here are the Illini who played and recorded stats during Week 2 of the NFL season:
Geronimo Alison, WR Green Bay Packers
3 Catches, 24 Yards (Atlanta Def. Green Bay, 34-23)
Allison made his debut for the Green Bay Packers and was targeted five times. He is hoping to make more of an impact his sophomore year.
Michael Hoomanawanui, TE, New Orleans Saints
1 catch, 8 Yards (New England def. New Orleans, 36-20)
Hoomanawanui had his first catch in two years during the Saints’ loss. He is finding himself more in two tight-end sets and is having an impact on special teams.
Corey Liuget, DL, Los Angeles Chargers
2 Tackles (Miami def. Los Angeles, 19-17)
Liuget made an impact as starting defensive tackles by recording two tackles. His role is interesting as he started on the defense but also had offensive snaps.
Dawuane Smoot, DE, Jacksonville Jaguars
1 Tackle, 1 QB Hurry (Tennessee def. Jacksonville, 31-24)
Smoot made his first impact in an NFL game during Week 2. He only played 16 snaps but still had a decent contribution in the Jags’ loss.
Akeem Spence, DT, Detroit Lions
1 Tackle (Detroit def. New York, 24-10)
Spence barely saw time on the field but was able to record a tackle. He is part of a very crowded and talented defensive front of the Lions.
Tavon Wilson, SS, Detroit Lions
4 Tackles (Detroit def. New York, 24-10)
Wilson continues his strong start to the season by recording four tackles. He is part of the strong Lions secondary that has made Detroit a serious contender.
