Former Illinois guard Brandon Paul announced Tuesday that he’ll be participating in both of the 2017 NBA Summer League circuits. Paul will be playing for the Dallas Mavericks in Orlando from July 1-5, and afterwards, he’ll join up with the Cleveland Cavaliers in Las Vegas from July 7-10.
Dallas’ first game will take place at 4:00pm CT on July 1 against the Detroit Pistons. Cleveland, meanwhile, will tip-off against the Milwaukee Bucks on July 7.
Paul played pretty damn well in last year’s Summer League. After averaging 15.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per contest with the Charlotte Hornets, the 6-foot-4 guard signed a partially guaranteed deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Unfortunately, Philadelphia ultimately cut Paul in order to retain former Michigan star Nik Stauskas on their roster. Hopefully the result will be a bit better this time around.
Paul had a great career at Illinois from 2009-2013. He averaged 16.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game during his senior season, plus he left Champaign as the program’s No. 8 all-time leading scorer with 1,654 points.
