After cementing himself in Illinois basketball lore as the program’s third all-time leading scorer, Malcolm Hill is taking his game to the professional ranks.
Following Thursday night’s NBA draft, the former Fighting Illini wing signed a free agent deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder to play in the 2017 NBA Summer League.

The Thunder hosted several workouts with Hill ahead of the draft, so this deal doesn’t exactly come as a huge surprise. Hill also worked out with the Dallas Mavericks, Utah Jazz, and NBA Champion Golden State Warriors during the process.
Hill averaged 17.6 points and 5.2 rebounds for the Illini last season, and he accumulated 1,846 points over his four year career in Champaign. He was named to the Big Ten’s Second All-Conference Team each of the past two seasons.
The NBA Summer League begins on July 1, with Oklahoma City facing Detroit at 6:00pm CST.
