Attention, Champaigniacs. It’s time to gather your weapons and defend our honor against Illini Board. The annual Illinois Football Lift for Life will take place at Memorial Stadium on Friday morning, and we’ll once again be participating in a fundraising battle against Robert’s rag-tag army of misguided hooligans.
This year, we’ll be adopting Team Turner. Illini Board has selected Team Marchese.
It's Lift For Life week which means one thing: we challenge @Champaign_Room to see who can raise more money. RT plz. https://t.co/vH3FH7tVG3

For those that aren’t familiar with this event, Illinois joined Uplifting Athletes in 2012 to help raise awareness and funds for research that combats acoustic neuroma, a rare and nasty disease that cost former Illini lineman Andrew Carter his college career.
So how can you help? Well, there are two different options this year. The first is through a pledge/rep; your total contribution will be determined based on how well Team Turner can bench press (estimated total of 170 reps). That means a $.50/rep pledge would equate to a roughly $85 donation.
You can also make a one-time, flat donation that’s independent of Team Turner’s performance.

Team Turner will be comprised of the following Fighting Illini football players: Malik Turner (Captain), Sean Adasanya, Brandon Roberts, Kurt Gavin, Julian Jones, Jordan Fagan, Chase McLaughlin, James McCourt, Nolan Bernat, Kendrick Green, Marc Mondesir and Kendall Smith.
Last year, the Fighting Illini raised over $21,500 in support of this cause. Let’s do our best to top that mark this year! At the time of this post, the current figure stood at $5,205.
