Illinois football is hosting a camp at Memorial Stadium on Friday night, and they’ve already received two verbal commitments from 2018 recruits. The first, Florida running back Jakari Norwood, announced his pledge to the Orange and Blue via Twitter.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect is currently unranked by 247Sports. According to Scout, though, he had additional scholarship offers from Bowling Green, Morgan State, North Carolina Central, and Southern Mississippi. Purdue was the only other Power 5 program listed as ‘interested’ on his profile page.
“First off I would like to thank God for putting me in the position that I’m in today because without him none of this would be possible. I also would like to thank my family, coaches, and all the schools that offered me football scholarships to attend their school. After talking it over with my Mom and my Deerfield Beach coaches I have decided to commit to the University of Illinois!”
Three-star offensive lineman Jordyn Slaughter is the other new commitment; we’ll have more information on him in another post shortly.
