One of the top available basketball transfers has narrowed his list to six schools, and he’s included the Fighting Illini. Wright State guard Mark Alstork informed media members that he’s scheduled upcoming visits to Illinois, Pittsburgh, Georgetown, South Carolina, and LSU. The 6-foot-5 guard will begin is trip to Champaign-Urbana on May 11.

Alstork is a graduate transfer, meaning he’ll be able to use his last year of eligibility immediately.

Alstork averaged 19.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game last season while shooting 40.0% from the field and 38.7% from three-point range.

Illini Inquirer’s Derek Piper had a pretty lengthy interview with Alstork after the news broke, and based on the following snippet, he seems well aware of what Brad Underwood is bringing to the table at Illinois.

"Coach Underwood is a phenomenal coach and knows what he's doing as far as allowing scorers to become the best they can be," Alstork said. "Executing offensive game plans. That showed with him leading the nation in offensive efficiency. I feel like they have a good situation."

The Fighting Illini are down to three open scholarships following the commitment of four-star guard Mark Smith. It seems likely that at least one of those spots will be carried over to the 2018 recruiting class, making the pursuit of another perimeter player rather curious based on current needs (i.e. another forward/center).

Alstork is absolutely a talented scorer, though, and assuming Illinois does opt for four-guard lineups this Winter, he’d provide the roster with big boost.
