Fighting Illini basketball remains alive for one of their top recruiting targets. Former Wright State guard Mark Alstork narrowed his list to four schools on Thursday afternoon, including Illinois along with LSU, Pittsburgh, and South Carolina. Louisville and Georgetown were the two schools eliminated from a previously announced top six.

Alstork, a 6-foot-5 guard, averaged 19.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game last season while shooting 40.0% from the field and 38.7% from three-point range. The Ohio native is a graduate transfer, meaning he’ll be able to use his last year of eligibility immediately.

Illinois is up to four open scholarships following D.J. Williams’ decision to transfer. While backcourt depth isn’t the most pressing need, Alstork figures to receive big minutes should he eventually opt for the Orange and Blue.
