Illinois recruited Moore, a four-star prospect, out of high school and was also in the running for his services when he announced he would transfer following Cuonzo Martin’s departure for the Missouri job.
Moore averaged 12.2 points and 3.5 assists as a freshman last year. He will have to sit out a year.
While it’s unfortunate that the Illini missed out on Moore for a third time, Illini target Mark Smith, a four-star point guard from Edwardsville, will announce his decision tomorrow at 6 p.m., giving Illinois another chance at landing a premier point guard.
