California transfer Charlie Moore commits to Kansas over Illinois Basketball

The Cal point guard picked the Jayhawks over the Illini and others

NCAA Basketball: Pac-12 Conference Tournament-California vs Oregon State Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

Former Morgan Park and California point guard Charlie Moore committed to finish his college career at Kansas, per Evan Daniels of Scout.

Illinois recruited Moore, a four-star prospect, out of high school and was also in the running for his services when he announced he would transfer following Cuonzo Martin’s departure for the Missouri job.

Moore averaged 12.2 points and 3.5 assists as a freshman last year. He will have to sit out a year.

While it’s unfortunate that the Illini missed out on Moore for a third time, Illini target Mark Smith, a four-star point guard from Edwardsville, will announce his decision tomorrow at 6 p.m., giving Illinois another chance at landing a premier point guard.
