Illinois head coach Brad Underwood dished out a pair of scholarship offers to local high school stars Ayo Dosunmu and Talen Horten-Tucker this weekend, but they’re far from the only names to keep an eye on.
On Sunday morning, the Fighting Illini added another notable name to their growing list in class-of-2018 forward Silvio De Sousa (FL). De Sousa, a five-star prospect, is rated as the nation’s No. 16 overall player by 247Sports. So far, the 6-foot-9 big man has other scholarships on the table from Kansas, Louisville, Maryland, Florida, Florida State, and LSU.

De Sousa is playing for the Florida Vipers on the Under Armour Association this Spring. Illinois assistant Orlando Antigua was in New York this weekend to watch the IMG Academy product play in person.
Illinois also sent out an early offer to 2019 wing Kahlil Whitney (NY). The 6-foot-6 playmaker is rated as the No. 48 player in the class, and he so far has other interest from Syracuse, Seton Hall, St. John’s, and Rutgers.
