Several Fighting Illini football coaches teased an imminent commitment on social media Thursday night, and we’ve finally received word as to which prospect was being referred to.
According to Illini Inquirer, three-star offensive lineman Julian Pearl has given a verbal to Illinois football following a campus visit. The 6-foot-7, 247-pound prospect was originally committed to play for Northern Illinois prior to the announcement.

Pearl is currently unranked on the 247Sports database, however that will almost certainly change now that he’s on the verge of playing for a Power 5 program like Illinois. Scout, on the other hand, has pegged the Danville product as the No. 3 in-state offensive tackle.
Illinois’ 2017 recruiting class now sits at two players, with the other being three-star quarterback Coran Taylor.
