Fighting Illini basketball has officially extended a scholarship offer to class-of-2017 forward Francesco Badocchi. A Twitter account maintained by the Bishop Miege high school program revealed the news on Thursday afternoon.
In addition to Illinois, the 6-foot-8 Italian also has a new scholarship on the table from Tony Bennett and the Virginia Cavaliers.

Badocchi took official visits to both Illinois and Virginia this week, and The News-Gazette mentioned that a similar trip to Boise State may be in the works. Texas Tech, Rhode Island, Tulsa, and Indiana State are other programs that have been involved over the past few months.
Badocchi averaged 13.9 points per game during his senior season while leading his squad to a Kansas Class 4A State Title.
