Brad Underwood and the Fighting Illini will likely be fairly busy on the transfer market this offseason, and we learned about one of their first targets on Friday afternoon. According to Scout’s Evan Daniels, Illinois is one of several high-major programs that has reached out to Bryant University’s Nisre Zouzoua.
Zouzoua, a sophomore from Massachusetts, is also hearing from N.C. State, Missouri, Arizona State, Maryland, and Boston College. The 6-foot-2 guard will have two years of eligibility remaining after sitting out the 2017-18 season.

Zouzoua is coming off a fantastic season with the Bulldogs during which he averaged 20.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per contest.
It’s always hard to project future production for transfers like Zouzoua, however single game efforts against Duke (16 points), Notre Dame (19 points), Gonzaga (22 points), and Northwestern (24 points) are absolutely encouraging. It wouldn’t be surprising at all to see him develop into a nice scoring option with another year of training under his belt.
While Illinois’ future depth charts aren’t exactly lacking in the backcourt, it’s worth keeping in mind that Underwood’s offenses at Stephen F. Austin and Oklahoma State have revolved around dynamic lead guards.
