Jakari Norwood signed with Illinois on Wednesday in the first day of the Early Signing Period.

Norwood will enroll early.

A native of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Norwood committed to Illinois in June, announcing his decision on Twitter.

“First off I would like to thank God for putting me in the position that I’m in today because without him none of this would be possible. I also would like to thank my family, coaches, and all the schools that offered me football scholarships to attend their school. After talking it over with my Mom and my Deerfield Beach coaches I have decided to commit to the University of Illinois!”

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect is currently unranked by 247Sports. According to Scout, though, he had additional scholarship offers from Bowling Green, Morgan State, North Carolina Central, and Southern Mississippi. Purdue was the only other Power 5 program listed as ‘interested’ on his profile page.

Norwood is the only running back signee or commit in Illinois’ 2018 class.
