After losing three straight in a tough stretch of matches, Illinois volleyball got back in the win column this week with victories over Northwestern and Michigan.

Illinois won three straight-sets against Northwestern to complete a season sweep. Fighting Illini freshman Tyanna Omazic set the pace with a career-high 11 kills. Omazic also found herself with a team high in Illinois’ next game against Michigan, with six blocks on the night.

Picking up their second victory didn’t come easy, however, as the match went five sets. Illinois took the first two but dropped the third and fourth. The fifth set went back and forth, and it finally ended on an Omazic ace.

Both junior Jordyn Poulter and senior Brandi Donnelly earned Big Ten honors this week. Poulter was named Big Ten Volleyball Setter of the Week, while Donnelly was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
