We'll have a recap up shortly after the game concludes; all post-game discussion should take place there.

1st Quarter

15:00 - Purdue has won the toss and defers to the second half.

13:39 - Cam Thomas gets the start (add another freshman to the list!) but can't get a drive going, as Illinois punts after just three plays.

10:24 - Purdue moves the ball exclusively on the ground and faces a 4th and 3 from the Illinois 33-yard line. The Boilers pitch to D.J. Knox, who is stood up short of the first down, but the Illini don't wrap up and Knox scampers for a touchdown. Rough start for Illinois.

Purdue 7, Illinois 0

4:34 - Nice, long drive from Illinois capped off with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Jeff George Jr. to Louis Dorsey. Thomas got the majority of the snaps at quarterback, including a beautiful deep ball down the sidelines to Ricky Smalling for 42 yards. Tie game.

Purdue 7, Illinois 7

End of 1st Quarter: Purdue 7, Illinois 7

2nd Quarter

12:30 - Purdue converts another fourth down in Illinois territory, but Del'Shawn Phillips records a tackle for loss on third down in the red zone to force a Boilermaker field goal. Illini run defense has been suspect, as Purdue has 91 yards on the ground in two drives.

Purdue 10, Illinois 7

9:25 - Thomas gets the Illini moving with a 26-yard run, though the Illini are forced to punt. A false start on Larry Boyd turned a 3rd and 2 into a 3rd and 7, and Thomas couldn't find a receiver to pick up the conversion. Team MVP Blake Hayes downs Purdue back at its own 4-yard line.

8:07 - Nice stand by the Illinois defense to force a three and out. The Illini will take over near midfield with a chance to take the lead.

4:00 - Illinois is stopped on third down to force a field goal attempt, but Purdue had 12 players on the field and Illinois will go for it on 4th and 1.

1:20 - Illinois threatening before halftime. The Illini face third and goal from the 7. George Jr. in the game.

1:06 - George Jr. is sacked. McLaughlin ties it up with a 31-yard field goal.

Purdue 10, Illinois 10

0:04 - Purdue swiftly moves down the field and will attempt a 42-yard field goal before halftime. The Boilers convert and take the lead into halftime.

Half: Purdue 13, Illinois 10

3rd Quarter

15:00 - Purdue will start the half with the ball.

13:25 - The Boilermakers gain 15 yards on the first play before stalling out. A nice punt will pin the Illini back inside their own 10-yard line.

11:15 - Illinois takes two straight sacks and has to punt, but Jackson Anthrop muffs the punt and Illinois recovers! Illini ball at the Purdue 25-yard line.

10:11 - The Illini can't do anything with the turnover and Hayes has to punt, which bounces into the end zone for a touchback. Two consecutive penalties (false start and delay of game) pushed Illinois out of field goal range.

8:04 - Illinois defense continues to play well, enforcing another stop. As has been the case all season, the offense needs to score to take control of this game.

6:23 - Three and out for Illinois. Thomas goes deep to Smalling down the sideline, but the freshman can't haul it in against tight coverage. Just feels like the type of game where the next touchdown might be the game-winner.

3:47 - Purdue tacks on a field goal but it could have been worse for the Illini. Bobby Roundtree batted down a pass on second down and then hurried quarterback David Blough on third down to force the field goal.

Purdue 16, Illinois 10

2:13 - Cam Thomas running, Cam Thomas throwing. Illinois is across midfield but Malik Turner got rolled up on his ankle and is injured.

0:58 - Thomas is sacked on third down to push the Illini out of field goal range. That allows Illinois to get its best player on the field, and Blake Hayes pins Purdue inside its 10-yard line.

End of 3rd Quarter: Purdue 16, Illinois 10

Stat leaders: PUR: Blough 14-22, 179 yds; Knox 7 car., 50 yds., TD; Hopkins 3 rec. 53 yds

ILL: Thomas: 8-16 116 yds; Foster 15 car., 68 yds; Smalling 2 rec., 46 yds

4th quarter

13:55 - Purdue nearing field goal range at the Illinois 33-yard line. Malik Turner is out for the rest of the game and Jamal Milan is down after a first-down run.

11:37 - Touchdown Purdue. David Blough leaves with a gnarly leg injury (and was targeted by Stanley Green which was incorrectly overturned), and Elijah Sindelar fires a touchdown pass to the tight end. Purdue goes for two and doesn't get it.

Purdue 22, Illinois 10

10:19 - Cam Thomas gets hurt on an illegal horsecollar tackle and Jeff George Jr. tosses a pick. Purdue ball at midfield.

6:12 - Touchdown Purdue. Boilers just pound the ball on the ground and those who have Purdue -14.5 are feeling pretty good right now.

Purdue 29, Illinois 10

4:13 - Thomas fumbles the snap on fourth down and Purdue takes over. Welcome to garbage time.

FINAL: Purdue 29, Illinois 10
