The Daytona Beach, Florida, native also considered Illinois in his final two schools.
Castleton is listed on Scout.com as 6-foot-10 and 215 pounds. He is one of the top players in Florida and has been in the conversation as the best power forward in the south.
Castleton visited Illinois on Sept. 1 and extended an offer to him in early May. He visited Michigan last week on Sept. 29.
Small forward Ignas Brazdeikis committed to Michigan on Sept. 22, adding to a class that already had power forward commit Brandon Johns. A loaded front-court class did not deter Castleton away from the Wolverines.
Illinois currently has no commitments in the upcoming class.
The Illini are still in the conversation to receive commitments from Landers Nolley, Ayo Dosunmu and Talen Horton-Tucker in the class of 2018. Former target George Conditt committed to Iowa State on Monday.
Stay tuned as The Champaign Room analyzes Castleton’s commitment.
