Talen Horton-Tucker committed to Iowa State on Thursday night at Simeon Career Academy.

The 6-foot-5 wing/small forward considered Illinois among his final three schools, as well as Xavier.

Horton-Tucker — a four-star recruit, according to 247sports — visited Illinois for an official visit last weekend. He was recruited by first-year Illini assistant coach Chin Coleman.

Coleman helped Illinois land Morgan Park High School product Ayo Dosunmu last Thursday. The five-star guard is the first — and only — commit in Illinois’ 2018 class.

Horton-Tucker is not the first player the Illini have lost to the Cyclones this recruiting season. Forward George Conditt committed to Iowa State earlier this month after narrowing his options to Illinois and Iowa State.

It looks right now that Illinois will stay put with a class of Dosunmu, but anything can happen with recruiting.
