Three-star WR Reggie Roberson commits to West Virginia over Illinois Football

The former Kansas commit is officially headed to the Mountaineers.

Fighting Illini football has narrowly missed out on one of their top remaining offensive recruiting targets. Three-star wide receiver Reggie Roberson (TX) has announced a verbal commitment to West Virginia, picking the Mountaineers over Illinois, Utah, and Washington State.

247Sports’ database has pegged Roberson as the nation’s No. 771 overall player and No. 111 wide receiver. The former Kansas Jayhawks commit had additional Power 5 scholarship offers from Oregon State and Indiana.

With National Signing Day looming this week, Illinois still has five available scholarships to use on the class-of-2017. It appears Roberson was the coaching staff's last real option on the outside, so barring a late surprise, expect three-star WR Carmoni Green (FL) and three-star WR Ricky Smalling (IL) to be the program's only additions at this position group. But keep in mind that three-star ATH Kendall Smith (IL) and three-star ATH Tony Adams (MO) may also get some offensive reps come training camp.
