NCAA Football '14 Simulation: Illinois Fighting Illini vs North Carolina Tar Heels

We used the popular EA Sports video game to simulate the results of Saturday's Illini game. Can the Illini keep pace with the Tar Heels?

With the help of some passionate college football fans on the Internet, TCR will be simulating every Illinois football game this season using EA Sports' NCAA Football '14. We've downloaded updated rosters and the team depth charts will be changed on a week-by-week basis to reflect what we'll see on the field. We'll also check the weather forecast to mirror the expected conditions at kickoff.

Our simulation has predicted the outcome correctly 80% of the time over the last two seasons. This Fall, the simulation is 1-0.

Simulation Results

This. Was. A. Shootout. If there's one thing you should know, know that Wes Lunt threw 70 times for 634 yards and 6 touchdowns in a losing effort. Amazingly, there were 1,900 yards of combined offense and 16 total touchdowns so I think we’re able to confirm that this was indeed a video game.

Final Score: North Carolina 66, Illinois 59
